An international company specialising in providing their customers strategies and solutions relating to the IoT is seeking a Business Development Manager to expand its presence in the UK and European markets. The Business Development Manager will proactively identify and qualify new business opportunities, either prospecting own opportunities or supported by the marketing team. Due to the nature of the company the Business Development Manager will ideally be knowledgeable in the IoT and be qualified to undergraduate level but will need to have excellent soft skills and communication; in addition, have a strong background in a similar role.

Applications from suitably experienced ex-military personnel (British Army, Royal Air Force, Royal Navy or Royal Marines) are strongly encouraged.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Demonstrate a keen and proactive approach to building a pipeline of quality prospects using category insights, industry research and intelligence, internet and networking tools, and actively logging and tracking this activity in our CRM tool
  • Work with internal and external marketing teams to create outbound marketing campaigns to increase client acquisition.
  • Achieve expected call volumes, qualification goals, and sales pipeline targets.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting campaigns that result in qualified opportunities with decision makers, ready to discuss their IoT strategy.
  • Maintain a database of contact information.
  • Set up follow-up meetings, present Company capabilities, know when to bring in technical experts, and manage the overall sales process
  • Collaborate with team members and management to optimize pipeline.
  • Manage appropriate follow-up action plans.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Have a capability around understanding the IoT requirements of prospective clients.
  • Develop currency on company offerings and industry trends
  • Compile and analyse data to find trends that lead to revenue generation
  • Help develop selling strategies and improve overall sales process that ultimately supports the global business

 

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Track record of meeting and exceeding demanding targets
  • Sales and business development experience, ideally 4+ years in a B2B business
  • Resilient and tenacious
  • Professional, ambitious, determined and results oriented mind set
  • Practical, yet creative with strong problem-solving skills
  • Positive in attitude, team oriented, able to work independently (remotely) while creating a collaborative environment to achieve team goals – especially important as most colleagues continue to work remotely
  • Self-motivated, high attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • Comfortable talking on the phone and engaging prospects
  • Confident in your communication style, capable of talking to all levels of decision makers
  • Able to prioritise activities to achieve desired performance results
  • Comfortable with CRM related applications

 

Desirable:

  • Basic working knowledge of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and vocabulary
  • Qualified to undergraduate level (ideally in Business or Marketing)
  • Ability to work closely with international marketing teams to ensure optimal campaign performance

 

Salary:

£50,000 + uncapped commission
