A secondary school in the Rochdale area is seeking a Catering Manager to manage the day-to-day operations of its busy kitchen. The Catering Manager will have a minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Catering. It is desirable that the Catering Manager have basic/intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate and have a proven understanding of HACCP and COSHH.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage the day-to-day operational and financial catering facility, including
    • Food and beverage production.
    • Producing menus and schedules for the school.
    • Producing orders and maintain stock levels to meet requirements
    • Monitor, control and report on the financial performance of the catering operation, weekly
  • Recommend methods to maximise income and improve service and implement recommendations
  • Communicate with stakeholders when required
  • Ensure all employees have been trained in key areas of their job to meet the requirements of both the contract and the unit.
  • To manage efficiently and effectively all catering staff
  • Responsible for the safe use and maintenance of equipment/materials
  • Work in accordance with the policies relating to the promotion of Equality and Diversity
  • Ensure that the commitment to public service orientation and care of our customers is provided
  • Conduct performance appraisal with staff to promote high work standards and personnel development
  • Ensure all documentation related to the catering function is completed accurately and punctually

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required

Essential:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Catering
  • Be able to provide good customer care and interpersonal skills with all stakeholders
  • Ability to pass Safeguarding thresholds

 

Desirable:

  • Basic or Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate - one-day course to be completed before starting
  • Understanding of HACCP’s and COSHH in a catering environment

 

Salary: £25,000

 

Hours: 07:00 to 15:00, Monday through Friday
