A long-establishing company that supplies customer with plants and horticultural implements is looking for a Chef to manage a small team in a busy, in-house restaurant. A Chef will need proven experience running a small kitchen team as a sous chef. A Chef will need a basic food hygiene certificate as a minimum requirement.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing of the kitchen team including chefs, assistants and kitchen porters
  • Ensuring menu development and improvements are ongoing for the restaurant and farm shop
  • Preparation, presentation and maintaining of food for all counters 
  • Ensuring all compliance is met in line with food safety and allergen requirements
  • Assisting the Catering Services Manager to run the department and the team 
  • Work with the team to develop the menu items and improve quality 
  • Assist where necessary in the kitchen team as required, including opening & closing procedures, cleanliness and preparation
  • Completing compliance records – checking & recording temperatures, allergy information and dates

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

Essential:

  • Experience running a small kitchen team in a senior position (suitable for a Sous or Senior Sous chef looking for their first Chef position.)
  • A basic food hygiene certificate (minimum requirement)

 

Salary: £28,000 to £30,000
