Construction Manager - GU1 - GU52

A global construction company is seeking a Construction Manager to support the delivery of complex construction projects up to a value of £10m and for it to be at the highest standards of safety, security and quality. The Construction Manager must have previous experience as a Site Manager or Assistant Construction Manager, ideally worked in a secure, defence or MEPH environment. In addition, you must have strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety and project management. CSCS card (black), SMSTS and due to the nature of the role you must be a UK national and hold security clearance, can discuss further at interview stage. Role requires travel to sites across London and the Home Counties, and occasionally to company HQ.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, schedule, and oversee all phases of the projects
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget
• Manage risk, quality, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle
• Lead site teams including subcontractors and direct labour
• Enforce site safety, security protocols, and environmental standards
• Maintain daily site logs and progress reports
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and local authorities
• Ensure all permits, licenses, and security protocols are adhered to
• Communicate effectively with secure facility management and security personnel
• Work with the Commercial team on budgets and procurement plans
• Work with the Commercial team to order materials and equipment, ensuring timely delivery and compliance
• Ensure adherence to project scope, health and safety regulations, and secure environment protocols
• Maintain accurate records, including risk assessments, method statements, and handover documentation

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

• Proven experience as a Site Manager or as an Assistant Construction Manager, ideally within secure, defence, or complex MEPH environments, up to £10/15m in value
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, health and safety, and project management
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
• CSCS Black Card or equivalent
• SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification
• Must be a sole UK national, hold a valid UK passport, have lived the last 5 years in the UK
• Have security clearance (or eligibility to obtain or transfer Security Clearance with UKSV)

Desirables:

• Experience in fit-outs, refurbishments in a defence, or other secure environment construction
• Trades background
• Degree or HNC/HND in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field
• Have higher level of security clearance

Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 DOE
