Construction Superintendent - England

£30,000 - £40,000 + benefits

A leading dredging company is looking for a Construction Superintendent to act on the instructions of the Works Manager or Project Manager that have oversight on the Company’s construction projects. It is essential the Construction Superintendent has previous civil engineering experience within a marine environment and have hands-on experience into the operation of equipment and auxiliary equipment. Must be willing to travel all over the UK and Ireland.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Making on-site preparations (mobilisation, installation and demobilisation) for the project to be performed
  • Using the project planning to draw up a detail planning so that the right people, equipment and material are at the right place at the right time
  • Managing, instructing, adjusting and motivating the various teams of workers, on your team as well as subcontractors and operators
  • Being responsible for updating a daily site report, including work performed, materials used, weather data, personnel deployed, equipment and subcontractors
  • Drawing up weekly and operational reports.
  • Checking the work for proper execution and quality
  • Indicating and reporting deviations with respect to the contract
  • Maintaining and encouraging a good relationship with the client and holding consultations with its supervisors
  • Estimating and dealing with site risk assessments
  • Executing HSE and Quality Assurance plan
  • Taking over project-related tasks of the Works Manager for the purposes of deputising in their absence

 

Knowledge/Experience/Skills

  • 8-10 years’ experience in the marine construction industry
  • Bachelor or master’s degree level in related field (Oceanography/ surveying/ hydrographic surveying etc.)
  • Working towards NVQ Level 4 Construction
  • Working towards Gold Level CSCS card
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of quality and safety systems          
  • Knowledge of technology related to measuring dimension
  • Practical experience with and insight into the operation of equipment and auxiliary equipment
  • Practical experience with projects relating to some of the following areas:
    • stone dumping, bank protection, bed protection, currents and tides, jetties and groynes or hopper work, cutter work, backhoes, clamshells, grabs, dumping, environmental dredging, small-scale dredging or pipes and ducts, landfalls and outfalls

Salary:

£30,000 - £40,000
