A specialist innovative company in the defence industry is looking for a Design Engineer to compile, monitor and update company project plans, and provide technical/administrative support. The Design Engineer will be qualified to ONC/HNC and completed an EITB approved apprenticeship. In addition the Design Engineer will have good IT skills, and have a good understanding of engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile, monitor and update project plans and status reports
  • Compile, monitor and update project engineering and procurement project files.
  • Provide technical and administrative support for specific projects
  • Provide technical and administrative support for drawing and parts list release and modification
  • Provide technical support during the procurement, build and test phases of specific projects
  • Generate project procurement lists, raise project RFQ’s and purchase orders
  • Monitor and actively progress the project procurement process
  • Be responsible for receiving project deliveries, goods inwards approval and assignment to the relevant project
  • Undertake associated project duties as requested by Senior Management

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Be qualified to ONC/HNC (minimum level 4) or C&G T4 or T6 in Mechanical Engineering, with a supporting EITB Approved Apprenticeship
  • Have a good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and the ability to apply them in an analytical and methodical approach
  • Have previous experience in Project Administration, Design and Manufacturing
  • Be computer literate, and proficient in Microsoft Project, Excel and Word
  • Be flexible and adaptable to a range of working methods and processes, be well organised, able to communicate technical and practical concepts, and is a team player

Desirable:

  • Have 5+ years in a Mechanical Design/Project/Manufacturing Environment
  • Knowledge of Solidworks and Solid Modelling

 

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
