Driver/Warehouse Person - W1A - W14

The key responsibilities of this role are the timely and safe delivery and collection of equipment and goods, assisting clients with the setting up of equipment as necessary and to ensure the company ethos and customer satisfaction are always maintained. As and when required, assist in the unloading and loading of vehicles with the minimum supervision within the shortest possible lead-times or any other Warehouse related duties.

Key Responsibilities & Duties include:

  • To deliver goods by the best route to optimise delivery times and maintain accurate and clear communication with Transport Control at all times.
  • To protect the company’s assets, accept liability and responsibility for the equipment and goods in your charge by double-checking against paperwork ensuring safe and secure carriage, loading and unloading.
  • As and when required, assist in the unloading and loading of vehicles with the minimum of supervision within the shortest possible lead-times, by following Warehouse/Departmental processes/procedures in an effective, efficient and productive manner while achieving the expected quality standards therefore enabling the equipment to be available to meet the ever changing demands of our Customers
  • To identify, clearly communicate to your direct line Supervisor or Manager and isolate any equipment that has been severely “Damaged” or has major parts “Missing” found during the unloading process which require an immediate Damage Notification Report to be raised.
  • To verify by use of the Scan Missing Report – Detailed after each unload that all the returning bar-coded equipment or stub equipment has been returned on the computer system.
  • Need to ensure that all equipment within the Warehouse/Department that you are working in has been correctly located and safely stowed
  • To highlight and effectively communicate any related issues to the controlling of stock or with the use of the computer systems along with any computer associated or related equipment directly to your line Supervisor or Manager.
  • To actively and willingly seek to gain knowledge concerning the correct operation and capabilities of equipment within your area by attending training sessions and reading manuals where applicable
  • To be available for work indicated by the rota for the transport department.

Essential Skills

  • Hold full licence and professional driving skills on vehicles up to 7.5 ton
  • Interpersonal skills/good communication
  • Calm, patient, polite and non-confrontational
  • Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to take initiative and to work through the implications of unusual, or non-systematic events
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work
  • 3 years delivery driving experience
  • A good geographic driving knowledge of London
  • Basic numeracy, literacy and an understanding of electrical/mechanical principles.
  • Understanding of basic computer software; e-mail, internet, Word and Excel.
