Estimator - Coventry - CV1 - CV47

£30,000 to £40,000 DOE + benefits

One of the largest geotechnical investigation specialists in the UK is seeking an Estimator to evaluate tender information and ensure deliverables are understood. The Estimator will have attained minimum qualifications to A-level and have acquired relevant industry subject qualifications. In addition the Estimator will have a range of soft skills such as numeracy, teamwork, negotiation, communication, time management and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, acknowledge and check tender documentation, raising queries as necessary
  • Evaluate tender information, preparing the action plan and contributing to bid strategy
  • Ensure scope, timescales and deliverables of estimates are understood and of an awarded project
  • Assist with setting tender policy and commercial risk assessment strategy
  • Participate in the resolution of project commercial and contractual issues
  • Evaluate and compare quotations and compile accurate costs within the tender
  • Collaborate with other estimators to ensure integrity of the delivery
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients
  • Prepare full priced build-ups to assist in supplier / subcontractor selection, ensuring competitiveness
  • Ensure the safe delivery of the tenders on the relevant submission date
  • Maintain in-house enquiry database with up-to-date information
  • Ensure working relationships with clients and engineering teams are managed professionally
  • Assist other estimators and Regional Operations Managers with completion of bids as required
  • Assist Projects Manager in maintaining regional programme commitments whilst ensuring standards for technical reporting is met
  • Assist with appointing appropriate levels and experience of internal and external resource to projects
  • Aid with the mentoring, coaching, technical training and development of more junior staff
  • Leading by example to achieve goals and championing quality.
  • Ensure that the Company’s policies are implemented successfully
  • Comply with the Company SHEQ, ISO14001, ISO9001 and ISO45001 quality systems and promote a culture of awareness within the team
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Have minimum qualifications to A levels, and have relevant industry subject qualifications such as construction management, quantity surveying, civil engineering, building surveying or structural engineering
  • Have numeracy, teamwork, negotiation, communication, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Have attention to detail and commercial awareness

 

Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 DOE
