A General Manager is needed at a popular leisure company to manage the staff at a single site outside Sittingbourne. Time served as a General Manager or Operations Manager is essential. A majority of this role is centred around people management, leadership and effective communications to all stakeholders. The General Manager will also promote the goals of the company to the staff and always seek ways to improving the bottom line.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the staff including scheduling, recruitment, and discipline
  • Develops and maintains departmental budgets
  • Approves all spending for the department
  • Aides in marketing and public relations for the company
  • Reviews reports to determine profitability and areas of improvement
  • Maintains a positive outlook and attitude about the organisation and its goals, since this will directly translate to how the staff takes on challenges and processes changes

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

Essential:

  • Time-served experience as a General Manager or Operations Manager
  • Excellent people management skills
  • Positive attitude that will contribute to a better work environment for all members of the staff
  • Communicate effectively face-to-face and in correspondence
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Computer literate

 

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Operations or Management
  • Direct sales experience

 

Hours:

  • Summer period (March to Sept) – 6 days a week, 9:00-6:00 (may be required to work some weekends and bank holidays)
  • Off season (Oct to March) - 5 days  a week, 10:00-4:00

 

Salary: £35,000 base with bonus or £5-10K per annum OTE + benefits
