Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality Advisor - NW1 - NW11

Job Role

Your role will be mainly concerned with Health and Safety on a construction site with a good working knowledge of Environment and Quality procedures. You will be responsible for multiple sites and provide advice to the site teams to help them conform to all Health and Safety legal requirements and best practices and carry out enforcement action where necessary.

Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position but other qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Drive compliance and entrench continual improvement of health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Help promote a positive Health & Safety culture throughout the business.
  • Have knowledge of Health and wellbeing best practices and provide good advice to site teams.
  • Conduct Site Safety Inspections and provide the reports to the Site team and Head of SHEQ.
  • Write and review periodically new site Construction Phase Plans and assist with Safe Systems of Work within your skill set as required.
  • Assist the Head of SHEQ in reviewing and assessing Sub-Contractor Health & Safety pre-qualification questionnaires.
  • Assist in maintaining programmes and standards to meet the requirements of existing and future legislation and company standards.
  • Assist the Head of SHEQ to maintain the company accreditations.
  • Be capable of carrying out impartial accident & Incident Investigations and reporting the findings to the Head of SHEQ.
  • Maintain accurate records of relevant Health and Safety data.
  • Ensure checks and necessary inspections are carried out.
  • Provide advice to management and workforce, conduct Tool Box Talks where required.

Essential Experience

  • NEBOSH Certificate in Construction
  • Associate Member of IOSH is a minimum, Tech IOSH would be advantageous.
  • Experience of working within construction and the refurbishment environment.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good attention to detail, highly organised and ability to prioritise workload.
  • Able to work on your own initiative.
  • Ability to assist in leading and developing change.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001:2015, ISO9001:2015 and ISO45001:2018 would be a benefit.
