Mechanical Engineer - England

£45,000 - £50,000 + benefits

A small and successful family-run business specialising in the cleaning industry is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to cover the operations and maintenance of large machinery. The Mechanical Engineer will be mechanically biased with some electrical experience and have experience with boilers, pipework and motors. Experience in 3-phase high-voltage and basic electronics is needed. The Mechanical Engineer will be adaptable, a team player and willing to get stuck in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively manage functions of the Engineering Department to ensure the provision of effective maintenance, repair and servicing of plant, building and equipment, and achieve targets. 
  • Ensure engineering and maintenance cover is organised to meet the demands of the site working hours.
  • Ensure that site-meets complies with Health & Safety regulations (COSHH) and that daily checks are carried out regarding pressure regulations.
  • Maintain costs within operating budget for parts and building maintenance.
  • Ensure all mechanical, electrical, plant, equipment and building problems are attended to and to carry out safety checks as required.
  • Ensure all mechanical, electrical and steam systems comply with current legislation.
  • Provide a programme of planned preventative maintenance on all equipment ensuring optimum use and minimum downtime
  • Advise best options for dealing with repairs, new installations and equipment, and to organise the installation and commissioning of all new process equipment.
  • Liaise with/oversee contractors and ensure their compliance with Company Health & Safety Policy.
  • Produce plans and reports and keep accurate records where required.
  • Carry out duties as laid down in BS EN 14065, Local Working Instructions and Company Operations Manual which may be updated from time to time.
  • Communicate effectively with all managers, supervisors and colleagues, as necessary, and to work the hours necessary to effectively discharge your duties and responsibilities.
  • Ad hoc duties as required.

 

Person Specification: Knowledge/Experience/Skills

Essential:

  • Extensive mechanical experience with boilers, associated pipework, motors, etc. (80- 90% mech bias)
  • Facilities Maintenance background
  • High Voltage electrical experience (ideally 3-phase)
  • Understanding of basic electronics
  • Adaptable to a constantly changing environment
  • Ability to work on your own
  • Good attitude and a team player
  • Strong problem-solving skills

 

Desirable:

  • Gas Safe trained (training provided)

 

Hours: Monday through Friday with a couple hours on Saturday

 

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 DOE
