A large innovative packaging solutions company is seeking a Mechanical Technician to maximise their department machines’ output and help maintain the manufacturing process for the site in South Wales. The Mechanical Technician will have excellent teamwork skills, a technical mindset and be a problem solver. The Mechanical Technician will also have completed a level 3 apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering with experience in a FMCG or fast paced, target-led environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of engineering and operational support to a manufacturing area
- Machine setting, to achieve product specification and performance
- Maintain automated inspection systems
- Fault-find and make improvements
- Inspect machines
- Respond to minor and major breakdowns
- Preventative maintenance
- Achieve compliance with all Health, Safety and Environmental requirements, Food Safety requirements, Legislative requirements, GMP and company policies and procedures.
- Prepare sub-assembly
- Other tasks as reasonably requested by the Manager
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Have completed level 3 apprenticeship in a relevant subject in a Mechanical Engineering discipline with a career history of mechanical bias
- Have knowledge of high speed, FMCG and/or a food processing production environment
- Have experience in machine setting
- Able to work around electrical wiring safely
- Have fault finding and problem-solving experience
- Strong teamwork, adaptability, and communication skills
- Be confident, autonomous and flexible on time commitments
Desirable:
- Have experience in PLC, pneumatics, or robotics
Salary: £31,000 + 15% shift allowance + OT (OTE £37,500)
