An international packaging company is seeking to employ a Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer at their plant near Northwich. Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers will have completed a recognised apprenticeship to an ONC/HNC standard or possess an equivalent qualification. Multi-skilled Maintenance Engineers should also have as close to a 50-50 engineering bias as possible with experience laid out in the essential criteria.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all equipment on site is in a safe condition and complies with current Health & Safety Legislation.
  • Respond to machine faults across site, as directed by the Engineering Shift Supervisor and or Shift Manager
  • Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance as directed by Engineering Management
  • Complete breakdown and maintenance records for all work undertaken on site
  • Interact with onsite Engineering stores personnel, to include but not be restricted to, booking parts out of stores, assisting in sourcing alternative parts where the original is not available, returning unused parts to stores
  • Establish key working relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business to include contractors and third parties.
  • Report all on going Engineering issues in keeping within company procedure

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:

Essential:

  • A recognised Engineering apprenticeship to ONC/HNC or equivalent Engineering qualification
  • As close to a 50-50 engineering bias as possible
  • Working knowledge of electrical controls (PLCs, Contactors, Relays, VSDs etc.)
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Working knowledge of weighing and tension systems (Load cells, etc.)
  • Mechanical skills:
    • knowledge of gearboxes pistons, drive systems
    • An understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic systems
  • Experience of engineering systems to include planned preventative maintenance
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Proactive, positive, enthusiastic - demonstrates “can do” attitude

 

Desirable:

  • City & Guilds 17th or 18th Edition
  • IOSH Managing Safely
  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment, BRC accredited and 5S
  • Experience with plastic extrusion or FMCG and associated auxiliary equipment

 

Hours: 4 on/4 off - 2x12hour days / 2x12hour nights, then 4 days off. Overtime is 1.33 x the shift rate for all hours over. Six 12-hour flex shifts per year included in salary.

 

Salary: £38-000 to £40,000 DOE
