Job Role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Operations Manager has a key role in managing the daily operations and activities. This includes the daily management of the Teams, liaison with customers and managing the upkeep of the Estate.

 

Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position but other qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day operational movements and activities in the Estate
  • Schedule the daily work load of the Team.
  • Lead by example, setting exemplary standards for behaviour, conduct and addressing performance issues.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the Estate.
  • Understand correct operation of equipment
  • Visit reported issues around the estate to determine a plan and take corrective action.
  • To be the key liaison with customers using the Estate for planned activities.
  • To be the key liaison for specified stakeholders.
  • Manage the dynamic risk assessment of tasks on a daily basis as required.
  • Ensure Company safety policies and procedures are maintained to the safest possible working environment for all employees and other users.
  • Write risk assessments for standing/new tasks.
  • Manage the training requirements of the Teams.
  • Plan and conduct oil spill training exercises to meet the annual requirements.
  • Manage the security team.
  • Plan and manage the tasks requiring external plant.
  • Able to provide basic cover for the Engineering Manager during leave periods.
  • Review the bookings in the events diary for conflicts and plan accordingly.
  • Manage the requirement and ordering of resources to support Marine Team tasks
  • Develop environmental policy management system.
  • Promote and work to the company core values, ensuring standards are consistently applied amongst the team
  • 21. Willingness to work flexible hours and be on call in a supervisory capacity.

 

Essential Experience

  • Previous operational experience in a relevant service/industry.
  • Computer literate, with working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Strong written / verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to follow and assist in the development of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Previous Health & Safety responsibilities. Able to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Natural leader capable of driving the team forward development
  • Analytical approach to problem solving as working in isolation and planning their own work.
  • Results orientated, with good project management and execution skills.

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Relevant engineering experience.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent SHE qualification
  • COSHH training
