The successful candidate will be an effective member of the senior management team, helping to build a highly successful and profitable organization, responsible for the day to day operation of equipment preparation departments.  Direct, control and motivate staff and be accountable for their management.

Key Responsibilities & Duties include:

  • To take ownership of functions and teams of people to ensure that all the work required by a defined timescale is carried out satisfactorily, which includes, ensuring all job parts/orders have all equipment supplied which will then eliminate ASAP, meeting the requested delivery schedule, equipment supplied reaches the required standard of quality and any other associated demands.
  • Will be very focused on minimalizing the requirement for Sub-Hire need by ensuring that the relevant departments have made available, by quick turnaround, any equipment to satisfy the shortage.
  • Ensure compliance through people when the “departed” designed job part/order has been loaded correctly, verification that vehicle total weight is within the defined weight. Any designed job caught between shift changes must have had a pre-weight check and estimated to ensure that added equipment by other shifts will not he exceed the defined weight. All procedures relating to this process must be adhered to in detail including the filing of the appropriate paperwork to verify the above check.
  • Manage finite human resource of DD Operations Staff/Drivers efficiently/effectively, minimising the requirement for overtime by balancing between Collections/Deliveries/Operations duties (where possible multi drops/collections) to ensure best possible use of this finite resource.  Ensure optimum use of vehicles whilst remaining within the applicable regulatory requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A proven track record in a similar management role is essential.
  • The ability to manage themselves and deliver results without supervision.
  • Previous experience in an Operational Environment.
  • Experience of developing supplier relationships and contracts.
  • Considers the long-term business implications of the issues and situations.  Is fully in touch with the needs of customers and is alive to threats and opportunities.
  • Has a good understanding of customer needs (internal and external) and will initiate projects or other action to improve the performance as perceived by the customer
  • Works well through others; creates a climate which encourages them to contribute.  Has courage of his/her convictions; confronts difficult issues constructively and provides a lead for others.  Gives and solicits honest feedback in order to improve performance and assist personal development.
