Quantity Surveyor - Chester - CH1 - CH66

One of the largest geotechnical investigation specialists in the UK is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial and contractual aspects for the company. The Quantity Surveyor will need to be qualified in Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying to degree level, have proven quantity surveying experience and have an excellent range of soft skills such as time management, communication, people, and leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage commercial and contractual aspects of relationships with Clients, and subcontractors
• Aid estimators to compile and issue tenders and analyse subcontractor quotations and make recommendations for placement of orders
• Measure, price, negotiate and agree budgets and costs for variations to project scope
• Check project costs are correct
• Attend pre-contract meetings and ensure timely completion of agreed actions
• Produce and maintain up to date procurement schedules
• Compile subcontract orders
• Assess subcontractor payment entitlement and process payments
• Carry out reconciliation of cost and value to date/forecast
• Work closely with contract and site management staff to support the smooth running of the office and the site, carrying out other duties as required
• Mentor junior staff
• Leading by example to achieve goals and championing quality
• Collaborating with other engineers to ensure the integrity of the delivery
• Enhancing team’s reputation by delivering high quality work on time and budget
• Building and maintaining relationships with clients
• Ensure that the Company’s policies are implemented successfully
• Performing other duties and responsibilities as required

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

• Have attained a Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying degree
• Have proven experience in a quantity surveyor role managing NEC3, NEC4 and bespoke contracts
• Good motivational, communication and people management skills
• Have well-rounded experience gained from working in either a contracting or consultancy background.
• Experience managing commercial aspects of projects
• Flexible to travel for short assignments.
• Excellent IT skills

Desirable:

• Completed master’s degree
• Attained Chartered Professional and Assessment of Professional Competence (APC)

Salary: £40,000
