School Facilities Officer - NW1 - NW11

£45,000 - £48,000 + benefits

A preparatory school in Northwest London is seeking a School Facilities Officer to oversee and manage the school’s 3 sites across Northwest London in areas such as health & safety, facilities, security and more. The School Facilities Officer will have relevant healthy and safety qualifications, good managerial skills and have previous experience working in a similar environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Headmaster and teaching staff during term time
  • Ensure physical environment of the school is maintained to the highest standards, and that everyone is kept safe
  • Line manage all ground and maintenance staff, including attendance management, performance management and training
  • Oversee the Risk Review document – where it pertains to the physical environment of the school
  • Oversee all site services including safety, security, maintenance, heating, waste, and cleaning
  • Work closely with external service providers (such as cleaners) and contractors to ensure ongoing best value, regular testing and improvements
  • Develop, implement and monitor a 3-year rolling Estate Management Plan to ensure that school sites are maintenance and enhanced within budget
  • Secure specialist services and contracts to deliver the agreed programme of works throughout the year
  • Manage all budgets relating to the school estate, maintain records, prioritising spend, working closely with the Bursar.
  • Ensure comprehensive and accurate record-keeping across all areas of estate management, upholding confidentiality and data protection.
  • Ensure compliance with the H&S legislation across all staff, contractors and services
  • Monitor and respond to latest advice and Government direction regarding a Pandemic
  • Ensure compliance in relation to risk of fire, intruders, installation of equipment for protection and escape, and maintaining records, training staff marshals, conducting regular testing, completing regular evacuation and lockdown drills, while improving processes and plans
  • Propose opportunities for improving site sustainability through research into marketplace developments and the close monitoring of the school’s water and energy input and outputs

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • NEBOSH Health and Safety qualification or equivalent
  • Recent and relevant professional development and commitment to ongoing development
  • Good general qualifications
  • Proven track record of having managed H&S
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Experience of managing a building and overseeing works
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with a wide range of people
  • Excellent attendance record
  • Ability to plan, implement and monitor strategies
  • Ability to take action to ensure the desired results are secured
  • Excellent communication skills – written and oral
  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office – Word and Excel
  • Able to pass DBS checks

 

Desirable:

  • Practice experience and knowledge of financial systems and budget management
  • Experience of working in a school environment

 

Shift: 7am – 3pm or 8am – 4pm, part time role may be available

Salary:

  • Up to £48,000 depending on experience + benefits
  • 30 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, free lunches during term time, cycle to work scheme
