Job Role

The role of the Security Manager is to ensure the security and safety of the occupiers at the venue.  To lead the security team in a large mixed-use development in the heart of London, including working with emergency services on compliance. The role will also oversee emergency procedures for all team members.

Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, British Army, Royal Marines) are particularly relevant for this position but other qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure the overall effectiveness and efficiency of security and occupier care provision on site.
  • Supporting the Property Manager in achieving the aims and objectives of the development’s security function.
  • Carry out daily welfare checks for staff on site, maintain rosters and ensure payroll information is passed to the Estate Manager for approval in a timely manner
  • Ensure Security Officers are performing their duties to the appropriate standard.
  • Provide feedback on the performance of Security Officers to the Property Manager
  • Provide ongoing support, guidance and training for Security Officers, advising them of how to improve their performance where required.
  • Report any significant security incidents, to the relevant Manager and assist in ensuring a full investigation has been completed to establish all facts.
  • Support the Property Manager through encouraging communication among tenants.
  • Ensure all aspects of routine health and safety checks are followed, in particular those identified within the personnel and procedures manual.
  • Co-ordinate the evacuation of the property in an emergency in accordance with the Properties evacuation plan.
  • Support the implementation of specific security plans for events and the attendance of any VIP’s to the Property.
  • Reporting any maintenance or health and safety issues to the Property Manager
  • Ensure close liaison with the local police and encourage communication with the tenants
  • Testing of emergency procedures
  • Working with neighbouring sites on cover requests
  • Representing the development in neighbourhood committees

Necessary Skills, Experience & Qualifications


  • Valid SIA Security/DS Licence
  • Valid SIA CCTV licence
  • Experience leading a security team 


  • Operational experience within a multi-user environment.
  • Ability to use full range of Microsoft applications inc. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of H&S legislation. IOSHH Qualification
  • Fire Marshall training
