A newly built waste management facility is seeking a Senior Engineer to keep the site plant running smoothly, undertake preventative maintenance, and ensure repairs are done as required. The Senior Engineer will have experience in a mechanical engineering role working with hydraulics/conveyors, worked in a similar manufacturing or industrial environment, and qualified in a relevant mechanical engineering subject. In addition, the Senior Engineer will have great problem solving and teamwork skills, and ideally have PLC and electrical skills. There will be shift patterns (see below for more details).

Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake PPM inspections of the plant, collate findings
- Complete detailed shift reports
- Participate in downtime events above 15 minutes to minimise the downtime
- Undertake plant repairs as and when necessary
- Monitor performance and engagement of support staff – Assistants and Agency workers
- Monitor H&S compliance across the shift
- Provide support to baler operators as and when needed
- Undertake plant spot repairs as required
- Undertake regular plant repairs as required by OEM manuals
- Monitor performance of the cleaning team
- Allocate tasks to assistant team and monitor performance
Knowledge, skills and qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience in on-site mechanical engineering and worked on heavy equipment such as conveyors, motors, bearings, basic fault finding and hydraulics
- Have completed minimum level 3 apprenticeship in engineering or similar
- Have worked to tight schedules
- Good teamwork skills
- Great problem-solving skills
- Able to work to shift patterns
Desirables:
- PLC / electrical skills and qualifications
Shifts: 3 x 8 hour shifts (6am-2pm, 2pm to 10pm, 10pm to 6am). Rotates each week.
Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 DOE + OT (OTE £65,000)
