Senior HSE Officer - B1 - B98

A company specialising in fire suppression systems is seeking a Senior Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Officer to assist colleagues and departments with a range of duties relating to HSE and be their main point of contact and advisor, in addition, collate and review all analysis findings. The Senior HSE Officer will need to have previous experience working in a similar H&S role, is up to date on H&S legislation, and have a good standard of education. The Senior HSE Officer will also have excellent communication, IT, time management, and relationship building skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the lead POC for operational HSEQ tasks
  • Support the development, communication and engagement of strategies for the group
  • Assist the HSEQ Manager in coordinating and monitoring the day-to-day management of the department
  • Produce monthly management reports for the HSEQ Manager
  • Audit service SSoW with the team and update where necessary for implementation
  • Develop SSoW for high-risk specialist situations/tasks 
  • Review department training records monitoring engineer competence whilst keeping training budget records for annual review
  • Be actively involved in company-wide HSEQ meetings
  • Maintain and manage own site HSEQ inspection schedules
  • Carry out on-site CDM inspections UK wide
  • Support with the review and management of documentation within our legal compliance system/integrated management system
  • Record and investigate high level HS&E incidents including investigating, carrying out witness interviews, recording, and analysing root causes for the group
  • Raise non-conformance and behavioural issues to the HSEQ Manager in a timely manner
  • Liaise with Clients and Subcontractors for receipt, reviewing of mandatory documents becoming the HS&E POC for allocated sites.

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Previous experience working in HSE in a similar role/environment
  • Minimum A-level or equivalent qualifications as well as strong awareness of H&S legislation
  • Excellent communication, administrative, IT, time management, organisational, and relationship building skills
  • Is approachable and ability to work with all people and levels of a business
  • Be proficient in different systems and platforms and passionate about the health and safety of others with compassion

 

Desirables:

  • Document Management experience within a formal system such as ISO45001 / 9001 / 14001
  • Previous experience with subcontract and CDM understanding
