Technical Engineer - KT1 - KT24

£50,000 - £60,000 + benefits and bonus

A leading gas infrastructure provider in the UK is looking for a Technical Engineer to support the Company on technical gas meters and gas meter engineering matters, providing first point of contact to the management team, customers and employees. The Technical Engineer will need to have a strong background in the industry and at least be working to gain accreditation of the IGEM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier and customer technical queries and Company meter designs for gas meters up to 38 barg.
  • Resolve any issues on behalf of the customer by providing technical solutions.
  • Oversee the metering assets maintenance programme to adhere internal and industry policies and procedures and address / flag issues on behalf of the customer.
  • Update meter policies and procedures as and when required to reflect latest industry changes and make sure we are in adherence to AMICoP, MAMCoP and the wider gas industry.
  • Participation in the management of Company meter service providers (Contractors) and suppliers to ensure correct level of service and SLA’s are delivered.
  • Prepare ad-hoc primary gas meter and ancillaries’ quotations for end consumers and gas suppliers for new connections, exchanges, upgrades, downgrades and removals.
  • Manage the Gas Transporter (GT) application process for Company metering on behalf of the customer.
  • Prepare or arrange and submit H&S RAMS/Lifting Plans etc. for the installation and maintenance of gas metering assets.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all customers and stakeholders to ensure exceptional customer service is delivered.
  • Support Company obligations under the Pressure System Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR), to ensure legislative requirements are met.
  • Support and co-ordinate Company out-of-hours Meter Emergency Service cover.
  • Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably expected.

 

Knowledge/Experience/Skills

Essential:

  • Possess or be working to gain accreditation with the Institution of Gas Engineers and Managers (IGEM), ideally to a minimum of Incorporated level (min. IEng desirable)
  • Maintain personal engineering accreditations and qualifications.
  • Strong knowledge of the gas metering industry, particularly I&C.
  • Keen to expand knowledge and experience to other areas within the Company
  • Ability to work within a face-paced team environment and also as stand-alone
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • Must be literate, numerate and IT proficient, particularly with MS office package, MS Word, Excel etc.
  • Occasional travel to other Company offices, customer offices and locations and visits to operational sites
  • Ability to visit and access 3rd party construction sites
  • Keep abreast of industry developments – attend industry liaisons, seminars, and meetings as appropriate
  • Previous experience of working in the natural gas / gas metering / construction industry
  • Have I&C metering experience

 

Desirable:

  • Pressure System Safety Regulations (PSSR) experience
  • Knowledge of PSSR2000
  • I&C metering accreditations and Gas Safe Register (GSR)

Hours:

37.5 hrs per week

Salary:

£50,000 - £60,000 (DOE)
