Telecoms Engineer - Ireland

£42,000 - £63,000 (DOE) + benefits

A leading provider of communications solutions is seeking a Telecoms Engineer to design, deploy and enhance radio solutions and radio frequency systems for their customer sites in the Republic of Ireland. The Telecoms Engineer will have completed a level 3 apprenticeship in telecommunications or in a relevant subject and have demonstrable experience in installation and maintenance. In addition, the Telecoms Engineer will have excellent customer service, communication, people management and problem-solving skills. This role would suit someone that is able to relocate to Ireland either as soon as possible or over the course of 6 months, which is to be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & deploy handheld radio solutions, covering the DMR client base
  • Designing complete RF systems, including transmitters, receivers, and antennas
  • Enhance the performance of wireless communication networks through careful analysis and adjustments
  • Regularly check and maintain RF systems to ensure they operate efficiently and reliably over time
  • Use software tools to simulate and model RF components and systems to predict performance and identify potential issues
  • Work with the sales team to design, provision, and operate various Operational Telecommunication Networks
  • Work closely with the project management Office to deliver various Operational Telecommunication Networks on time, on budget and high level of quality
  • Provide level 2 & level 3 support when analysing and solving incidences
  • Act as the interface to 3rd line support from key partners
  • Investigate network performance issues to determine root cause, develop and implement plans to address as needed
  • Perform equipment configuration and provide support to field deployment for new solutions and enhancements
  • Work within the NOC monitor, react and troubleshoot client network issues as they arise
  • Assess the risk of adds and changes with client and plan cutovers
  • Carry out regular preventive maintenance inspections
  • Create and maintain required documentation including network architecture drawings
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity and access issues as they arise
  • Act as a technology champion in driving change, developing new service offerings, and finding innovative ways to use existing infrastructure
  • Carry out all work in line health and safety regulations

 

Knowledge, skills and qualifications:

Essential:

  • Completed minimum level 3 apprenticeship in telecommunications or relevant subjects with radio frequencies
  • Have demonstrable experience in installation of radio technology
  • Ability to manage a positive customer experience throughout delivery
  • Full Driver’s License
  • Good understanding of wireless systems including analogue/RF, digital and communications theory and install radios systems
  • Excellent professional communication and reporting skills
  • Good relationship and people-management skills
  • Highly organised work approach within a multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to find inventive solutions, and to lead/steer discussions to deliver win-win scenarios
  • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Commercially aware
  • A proven ability to influence internal and external customers.

Salary: £42,000 to £63,000 DOE
