A successful and large company specialising in multi-sector equipment leasing is seeking a Workshop Manager to lead and manage the workshop operations at our Client’s Bedford site. The Workshop Manager will have a minimum level 2 in plant maintenance or equivalent, broad knowledge of plant equipment and maintenance experience, and previous experience leading teams in a workshop setting. In addition, the Workshop Manager will have strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, organisational and time management skills. You must also have a valid UK driving licence, be hands-on, and have the ability to coach/motivate others.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, manage, and develop the workshop and yard teams
- Schedule, assign, and review planned maintenance activities, including PDI’s, LOLER inspections, and general repairs
- Ensure timely turnaround of equipment to meet customer demand
- Maintain strong workshop stock control and ordering processes
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
- Coordinate with Depot and National Operations Managers to maximise fleet availability
- Deputise for the Depot Manager when required
Knowledge, skills and qualifications required:
- City & Guilds/NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent
- Broad knowledge of plant equipment and maintenance techniques
- Proven experience in workshop leadership
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time management abilities
- IT-literate and confident in using workshop systems
- A valid UK driving licence
- A proactive, resilient attitude to changing priorities
- An ability to coach and motivate others
- Strong analytical thinking and decision-making skills
- A hands-on, “lead by example” approach
Salary: £45,000 to £50,000 DOE
