Yard Operations Manager
Circa £35-37.5K – Reading: Permanent
Job Role
The Yard Operations Manager is responsible for compliance and maintenance of assets and has a key role in managing the daily operations and activities including contractual requirements within the overall operation.
Applications from suitably qualified ex-military personnel (Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Army, Royal Marines) will be particularly relevant for this position but other qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage the day to day operational tasks to ensure all requirements are fulfilled, maintaining a high standard of organization.
- Manage and administer all aspects of document requirements
- Assist in keeping the forklift trucks maintained as per regulatory requirements.
- Manage daily defects and weekly audit checks
- Complete and report weekly stock take.
- Management of quality control on all stock items
- Ensure Company safety policies and procedures are maintained to the safest possible working environment for all employees and other users
- Keeping accurate compliance records in accordance with relevant audit requirements.
- Deliver toolbox-talks and coordinate staff H&S and training requirements.
- Co-ordinate and deliver staff appraisals and performance reviews with HR and department heads.
- Assist with planning and routing vehicles alongside updating the transport schedule.
- Assist in facilitating site requests for small tools and plant, coordinating hire and/or distribution from head office
- Assisting with processing orders when required.
- Supporting other fleet and general tasks as and when required.
- Work closely with project managers to ensure that all site plant requirements are achieved
Essential Experience
- HGV licence (current or working towards Driver CPC)
- Fork Lift licence
- Road Haulage Transport Manager CPC
- Previous operational experience in a relevant service/industry.
- Computer literate, with working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Strong written / verbal communication skills.
- Previous Health & Safety responsibilities. Able to promote a positive safety culture.
- Results orientated, with good project management and execution skills.
